Native Houstonian Brad Gaber is celebrating three decades as a free-lance illustrator, graphic designer and architectural designer.
After studying art history in Europe with Dr. Terence Grieder, Mr. Gaber received his Batchelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin. He began illustrating for Texas Monthly Magazine and then studied with Milton Glaser at the School of Visual Art in New York City.
Returning to Houston, Mr. Gaber continued his free-lance career in earnest, with Fortune 500 companies and major ad agencies as his clientele. In 1978 Gaber helped to found the Houston Society of Illustrators and has served as a member of its board and that of the Art Directors Club of Houston.
Mr. Gaber has received numerous awards for his illustration and design work from many organizations including local and national Addies. His illustrations have appeared in many publications including Reader’s Digest, Performing Art, Texas Monthly, Golf Digest, and Money Magazine, as well as corporate organs and trade journals.
Gaber’s paintings have been exhibited at the Mario Berger Gallery in Ft. Worth, the Rachel W. Davis Gallery in Houston, Temple Shalom in Dallas, the Robert I. Kahn Gallery of Congregation Emanu El and the Margolis Gallery of Congregation Beth Israel, both in Houston.
Mr. Gaber is also very involved in the community, and has served on the boards of many arts and public service agencies. When deadlines are not looming, Gaber can be found relaxing with his piano and guitars, or with his wife, children and boxer.
